Becoming a Vegetarian



Food is the source of energy needed by human body. The nutrition and the protein of food are the main requirements which are needed to build energy. Actually, there are many food which are offered, from junk food or fast food, snakes, to staple food. Because of too many kinds of foods which are available on the supermarkets and the groceries, sometimes they make people less aware about the nutrient content of the food they need for their bodies. Consequently in these recent days, there are some diseases caused by food itself. The less healthy food which are consumed by people make them sick. Heart attack, high blood pressure, cancer and cholesterol are the most famous diseases attack people. There are many things can be done to control the diet, such as consuming enough nutrition from vegetables, animal fat or fruits and avoiding those unhealthy food. However, there is a unique way that may be never considered by many people around the world, though there may be only few people do this. That is by becoming a vegetarian. Well, vegetarian is a person who does not eat meat or animal’s fat for the reasons of health, religion or avoiding animal cruelty. This is the healthy way to control the diet by consuming only vegetables and fruits. The reasons why people should try this way are humans need more nutrition from vegetables and fruits than animals, people will live longer and giving animals the right to live.

The nutrition of vegetables and fruits are proven to be healthier than animals’ fat. The vegetarian diets prevent people from diseases such as heart attack and cholesterol that are caused by animal’s fat or fast food that contain of high fatty substances. Cardiovascular has killed around 1 million Americans annually and this is a well-known disease which becomes a leader of the death of Americans. Consuming vegetables and fruits will simply avoid its disease and it is the most effective way to stay healthy. Nowadays, around people in the world who have not realized the danger of junk food and fatty food increase year by year. Based on World Health Organization, obesity and overweight rates have doubled since 1980. Then in 2008, it had been found that 35% of adults over age 20, 1.4 billion of people were overweight, and then 11% were obese, the reasons of these all is the way they eat their diets. Obesity has killed so many people than those ones who are underweight. It means that junk food or fatty food including beef or pork has adverse effect on humans. Though nowadays those unhealthy foods still become a lifestyle and trend. All people know that those foods do not contain of nutrition produced by vegetables and fruits, only bad fats which are unhealthy for humans. The nutrition and vitamin that are produced by vegetables and fruits do not contain of fatty food which make people get obesity, heart attack, high blood pressure or even cancer. It can be seen that consuming vegetables and fruits will make humans free from all diseases, mainly obesity. Vegetables and fruits do not make humans get fat. It can be said that being a vegetarian will help reduce the death of humans in any circumstance. Those meals will make humans stay underweight and make them free from cholesterol, heart attack, obesity, and so on. Nutrition, vitamin and viber produced by vegetables and fruits are needed by humans more than animal fat.

After becoming free from any disease, being a vegetarian also help humans have a longer life. Of course when they do not consume foods contain of fat, it means they are free from heart attack, cholesterol, high blood pressure and so on. Michael F. Roizen, MD, the author of The RealAge Diet: Make Yourself Younger with What You Eat, states that if you stop consuming standard American diets and move yourself to vegetarian diets, you will add about 13 healthy years to your life. Eating animals such as four-legged ones will make your health threatened. Mostly meat eaters will have more disabilities in the end of their lives. The product will clog your artery and reduce your immune system. It means that four-legged product will kill you slowly. Then, another thing for the meat eaters is they will have sexual dysfunction at a younger age. The other proof that vegetables and non-animal fat will make you live longer is Okinawan people. Around 450 people there have age of 100 and even over. Then, after decades of research, medics and anthropologists found that there are two main factors of their longevity such as alimentation and healthy lifestyle. The traditional food of Okinawans are a bowl of cooked food and fruits. Okinawans usually eat seven portions of vegetables and fruits, then seven of cereals and two of soy products. It means that Okinawan people mostly eat vegetables and fruits in their daily life. The evidence absolutely proves that the energy, including vitamin, nutrient, viber, of vegetables and fruits have such a big assurance to the humans to live longer.

In addition, being a vegetarian is not only to have a healthy lifestyle, but it also gives the animals a right to live. Imagine that those innocent animals are slaughtered for humans’ consumption. Based on the Farm Animal Right Movement, arround 10 billion animals are killed every year for food in the US and then around 58 billion are killed worldwide. Just take one example, the famous meal for our daily food, chicken. Every day, around 23 million chickens are killed for food in the US, it means that around 260 chickens are killed per second. What a huge amount, isn’t it? Animals also have a right to live. In this modern era, people must think that killing innocent living this for food is not a wise job. They may think that animals cannot talk and they cannot be the reason but the question is “are they suffered?” and the answer is simply “yes.” All animals have to be free from exploitation. Animals also have a feeling of love, suffered, fear and they have the same ways as the humans’ conditions. Modern people should think that animals also have liberation to be free. Just imagine if you were them, waiting for the knife slashes your neck. Then, you could have felt what they were experiencing. So, by being a vegetarian, we also repesct to the other living things and help reduce the animal consumption every second.
 

Thus, by becoming a vegetarian, the requirements for the human body will be fulfilled perfectly. People will be free from diseases and have a healthy lifestyle, the nutrition and vitamin from vegetables and fruits make them live longer. Then, it also helps decrease the consumption of animals in the world as we live in a modern condition and think that animals also have a right to live as we do.
